African American Network: End of Year Celebration, Tribute to National Black Music Month
African American Network: End of Year Celebration, Tribute to National Black Music Month

The AAN’s end-of the year celebration concert will present members of the internationally acclaimed Chicago Community Choir, founded and directed by Dr. Keith Hampton. Joining them will be soprano Kimberly Eileen Jones and tenor Cornelius Johnson. Kim Jones, as she is fondly known, is an alumna of the Ryan Opera Center of Lyric Opera of Chicago. Bruno Bartoletti, then Lyric Opera’s artistic director, invited Jones to appear with the Orchestra della Toscana in Florence, La Spezia and Piombino, Italy. She was one of four Ryan Center artists showcased in concerts at the Place du Châtelet in Paris. Cornelius Johnson, whose voice has been described as “expressive and soaring” by the Post Standard, has performed in operas, musicals, concerts and recitals throughout the United States and abroad. His credits include leading roles in Carmen, La Boheme, The Magic Flute, Don Pasquale, and Porgy and Bess, to name just a few.
