Civic Orchestra: Farces, Folk Songs & Prokofiev 5

Former CSO Solti Conducting Apprentice Erina Yashima returns to conduct Strauss’ tone poem depicting misadventures and pranks of a peasant folk hero, as well as Prokofiev’s sanguine Symphony No. 5, which celebrates the spirit of humankind. Annie Rosen, an alumna of the Ryan Opera Center at Lyric Opera of Chicago, sings a suite of recognizable folk songs from around the globe reinterpreted through Berio’s imaginative musical language.
