Civic Orchestra: From the British Isles

Civic Orchestra: From the British Isles
Civic Orchestra: From the British Isles
Newly appointed Principal Conductor Ken-David Masur leads the Civic Orchestra in this program inspired by the British landscape, including a 2012 piece by Scottish composer Helen Grime. Mendelssohn’s 1829 visit to Edinburgh inspired his early sketches for Symphony No. 3, which captures the drama and romance of the highlands. Britten’s Sea Interludes use shifting tonal colors to imitate the seashore of a coastal fishing village.
